MASCO CORPORATION RECOGNIZED FOR PARTNERSHIP WITH MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY'S ELI BROAD SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT

Company Honored for Excellence by Corporate University Xchange and Fortune Magazine

TAYLOR, Mich. (February 21, 2005) - Masco Corporation (NYSE: MAS) has received a 2004 Award of Excellence from the 6th Annual Corporate University Xchange (CUX) Excellence and Innovation Awards, presented in association with Fortune magazine.

Billed as the "Academy Awards" of corporate learning, the Excellence and Innovation Awards presented by CUX recognize groundbreaking performance among corporate universities nationally and internationally. Awards are presented in seven strategic areas: Alignment, Alliances, e-Learning, Marketing, Measurement, Launching, and Leadership Development. Learning programs at more than 100 organizations were evaluated this year.

Masco Corporation received the Award of Excellence in the Alliances category, recognizing its strategic partnership with Michigan State University's Eli Broad Graduate School of Management. Masco and the Broad School developed and deliver the Masco Leadership Program in Operations Management, a one-year certificate program with over 100 graduates to date.
